Privacy notice (preview)
Last updated 1 November 2026
Short version: nothing is saved on your phone or on our server, and there are no accounts, cookies or tracking. To turn your recording into words, this preview sends it to OpenAI in the United States, so please only record pretend appointments while we test it.
What happens to your recording
- Your phone records the appointment in parts of about three minutes. Each part is kept only in the web page’s memory, not saved on your phone.
- As each part is ready, it is sent over an encrypted connection to our small service on Cloudflare, which passes it straight to OpenAI to be turned into words. The words come back to your phone, and that part of the recording is dropped from the page.
- If you upload a recording, it is read and split into parts on your phone, then each part is sent in the same way.
- To help get the words right, each part is sent with any words to listen for that you typed, and the last few sentences of the part before.
- When you ask for a summary, the words (not the recording) are sent the same way to OpenAI, and the summary comes back to your phone.
- Our service doesn’t save the recording, the words or the summary, and doesn’t keep logs of what was said.
OpenAI
We use OpenAI’s paid service (its API). We ask it not to store what we send. OpenAI says it doesn’t use this to train its models, but it may keep it for up to 30 days to check for misuse, and then deletes it. This happens in the United States. See how OpenAI handles API data.
That is why this preview is for testing only. The full version will use services based in the UK.
What stays on your phone
The words and summary stay in the page until you close or reload it, then they’re gone. Nothing is saved in your browser. If you save, share or print your PDF, what happens to that copy is up to you: keep it as you would any letter about your health.
What we don’t use
- No accounts or sign-in. The preview code is checked and then kept only in the page’s memory.
- No cookies, local storage or similar technologies
- No analytics, advertising or tracking
- No third-party scripts or fonts
Our hosting provider
Tell Me Again is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your device’s IP address and basic technical details to send you the page and protect it from attacks, and may keep short-lived security logs. To stop overuse, our service counts requests from each IP address for a minute at a time; it doesn’t store them. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
If you send feedback
The feedback form sends what you type to the email inbox of the person who runs Show Me Where and Tell Me Again. It isn’t saved anywhere else. Please don’t include personal medical details.
Who we are and your rights
Tell Me Again is run by the person who runs Show Me Where. Contact hello@showmewhere.org.uk. Because we don’t keep your recordings, words or summaries, there is usually nothing for us to give you or delete. If you’ve sent feedback or emailed us, you can ask us to delete it. You can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
This notice will change before the full version opens, because the services we use will change. We’ll update this page and the date at the top first.
