Tell Me Again is meant to be easy for everyone to use, including people with low vision, people who use a screen reader and people who find reading hard.
What we’ve done
- Large, colour-coded buttons that also say what they do, so colour is never the only clue.
- The sound level bar says Too quiet, OK or Great in words as well as colours, and gives advice in words.
- A clear typeface (Atkinson Hyperlegible), designed for people with low vision.
- Works with screen readers: progress and advice are announced as they change.
- Works with zoom and larger text settings, in light or dark mode, and with a keyboard.
- An Easy read summary style, with short sentences and everyday words.
Known limitations
- Recording needs a microphone and a modern browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox).
- The waveform picture is for reassurance only and isn’t described to screen readers; the words beside it say the same thing.
- Summaries are in English only for now.
- Speech recognition can struggle with strong accents, quiet voices and background noise. You can correct the words before making a summary.
